Our ambition goes beyond just providing a facility.
We’re developing alternative routes into photography and an alternative model of photographic education for people who may not be able to, or may not want to, take the traditional academic route.
We believe meaningful photography begins with ideas, curiosity and lived experience rather than expensive equipment. Through workshops, courses, mentoring, artist-led projects and practical access to our facilities, we create opportunities for people to develop their skills, ideas and photographic practice in a supportive, hands-on environment.

Our darkroom is a space to make, experiment and develop photographic work. With facilities for both black & white and colour printing, it’s available to photographers at all stages, whether you’re making your first ever print or developing an ongoing project.
To use our darkroom, you can book as a Sequence Member and receive our reduced member rates, or book as a non-member at the standard rate.

Sequence is proud to run a community darkroom and photography space built on shared knowledge, mutual support and a commitment to analogue practice.
Becoming a member helps sustain the space and gives you access to reduced rates, workshops and our growing network of photographers. We have two main types of membership available; Sequence Member and Patron Member.
