Black and White Film Developing Workshop
ÂŁ55.00
Limit 5 per order

Wednesday 25th November

6pm-9pm

There's something incredibly satisfying about seeing your photographs appear for the first time. In this hands-on workshop you'll learn how to develop your own black and white film and make a contact sheet in the Sequence darkroom.

Simply bring along a roll of exposed black and white film and we'll guide you through the entire process, from loading your film into a developing tank to mixing chemistry and processing your negatives by hand.

Once your film has been developed, you'll learn how to make a contact sheet in the darkroom, giving you a beautiful overview of your negatives and the perfect starting point for making future prints.

You'll leave with your processed negatives, a contact sheet, the knowledge and confidence to develop film yourself, and hopefully a few new photography friends too.

What to bring

  • One roll of exposed black and white film (35mm or 120)

  • Clothing you don't mind getting a little dirty

What's included

  • All chemistry and equipment

  • Photographic paper for your contact sheet

  • Expert tuition

Please note

  • Please bring exposed black and white film that has not yet been processed.

  • This workshop is suitable for both 35mm and 120 black and white film.

  • Colour (C-41 or E-6) film cannot be processed during this workshop.

  • No previous darkroom or film developing experience is necessary.

  • Places are limited and booking is essential.

  • Please arrive 10 minutes before the workshop begins.

  • The workshop involves standing for extended periods.

  • If you have any accessibility requirements, please let us know in advance and we'll do everything we can to accommodate you.

  • A short health and safety induction will be given at the beginning of the session.

We believe the darkroom should be an accessible, welcoming and collaborative space. Whether you're developing your very first roll of film or returning to analogue photography after many years, you'll be warmly welcomed at Sequence.

Unfortunately, cancellations made within 14 days of the workshop are non refundable unless we are able to fill your place from the waiting list.

If Sequence is required to cancel the workshop, all participants will be offered either an alternative date or a full refund.

Accessibility

Sequence is based within Backlit Studios, a beautifully restored former factory building dating back almost 200 years.

Our darkroom is wheelchair accessible with some temporary modifications to the entrance. However, due to the nature of the historic building, some areas are not fully accessible for all wheelchair users or those with certain mobility requirements.

Accessible toilets are located two floors above the studio and can be reached via either a lift or stairs.

If you have any questions about accessibility or would like to discuss your individual requirements before booking, please don't hesitate to get in touch.
